The Old Fire Station is owned by the Gravel Pit Close Charity, of which Woburn Sands Town Council is the trustee.
In 2024 the main room in the Old Fire Station has been updated with new flooring, black out blinds, and freshly painted walls. We've also updated the rear enclosed garden with a fabulous green play surface.
The Old Fire Station has a wide entrance area and two rooms to hire.
The main room is rectangular in shape and has a separate but adjoining kitchen (please note there is no facility to heat food). Access to the rear garden is via the main room only.
There are three toilets on the premises, all fully accessible with one of these exclusive to the main room.
The main room is approximately 9m x 5m.
The smaller room is smaller than the main room, angular in shape, and has a single sink unit within.
The Old Fire Station is suitable for most activities, including baby and children's groups and classes, corporate events, exhibitions, yoga, Pilates, music practice and music events.
There is free WIFI.
The Old Fire Station is available to hire at a set rate of £11.50 per hour. If you wish to hire both rooms at once, or hold a party, please speak to us about the price,
The building served as the Woburn Sands Fire Station for several years. Many of the firemen were volunteers who worked at the old Plysu factory opposite that is now the Parklands development. The route that they took to the Fire Station in the event of an alarm was along Firemans Run, hence the use of the name within Parklands. In 1998, following the closure of the Fire Station, the building was taken over by the Woburn Sands Youth Club. In 2015 the Woburn Sands Town Council took over the running of the Old Fire Station for the benefit of the local community in its capacity as trustee for its owners the Gravel Pit Close Charity.
